Trying it All-
A few years ago- we were living in the suburban plastic bubble. We had the perfect curb appeal home, the landscapers, the summer beach house, the wake up and 'what should we do today with all our free time' life.
April 2005 -it was love at first sight. An 1850's Gothic Revival on 4.5 acres, some deteriorating out buildings, a barn, loads of gardening, loads of work, and some original residents- who are still very intent on sharing our living space.
Gone were the lawn guys, the beach house and the question of: 'what should we do today'???
I have plenty to do each and every day. I have a beat-up pickup to haul stuff and I'm now the landscaper, yard guy-chick. I've learned a lot of how-to, much about antiques, old hardware, radiators, refinishing, snakes, and poison oak.
I'm surrounded by the suburbs AND the plastic bubbles- however on this little plot of land my girls are learning first hand how to do for yourself. That one family built the original barn- and one family can restore the same barn 150 years later. It's a pretty rewarding trip......
What I am.....
I'm a mom, wife, renovator, caretaker, coach, animal lover, landscaper, gardener, creator, baker, organizer, student [again!], music lover, risk-taker, swimmer, runner, painter, antique-seeker, doer, seeker, opinion-giver and advisor. Did I happen to mention ...broke?
